Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
In CBT, we look at our internal assumptions and beliefs that are often at the core of our emotional responses and behaviors. Evolutionarily, human minds have developed a bias toward negativity. When we continually draw negative conclusions, we live life based on many fearful and distorted thoughts. When unexamined, these thoughts can become rigid and stuck, leaving us confined by living in a negative and fearful mindset. We will work together to find a reality-based view of yourself, others and the world. This breaking down of unhelpful, fear-based ways of thinking will free you to feel your emotions fully, connect with others more authentically, and live in the world with greater freedom and ease.

Walking Therapy.
In walking therapy, we hold our sessions while walking together outdoors. Being outside in nature can have a calming and grounding effect. Walking therapy is a great way to access the stress-reducing benefits of being outside and moving the body. Some find movement helpful in processing thoughts and emotions. Movement can also stimulate creativity and can help to facilitate deeper self-reflection and exploration. Walking therapy can also be particularly helpful for individuals who feel constrained in typical therapy settings.
Walking sessions take place in Prospect Park or Greenwood Cemetery.

Couples.
In couples therapy, we work on improving communication, rebuilding trust, resolving conflicts and enhancing intimacy. We address the specific issues that have become entrenched in the relationship. We also work on building up and strengthening intimacy in the relationship while uncovering problematic dynamics and points where you are getting stuck. There is a focus on enhancing your ability to deeply listen to each other so that both individuals feel understood and heard. When partners feel understood they can reestablish a sense of deep support for each other. While I do utilize various modalities, my couples work is rooted in Gottman technique (an evidence-based practice based on 40+ years of relationship research) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I work with both monogamous and poly couples.
